P.O.L.I.S. - MyMiniCity

SimCity meets web2.0. That’s the idea behind the new online game MyMiniCity by French game developer Motion Twin.

In an easy one-step process, each new visitor is invited to create their own mini city. Your city then grows depending on the number of unique visitors each day. As you build population you have to deal with issues of transportation, security, and employment. This is much like Sim City only driven by web traffic.

I’m including this site in the mapping section because it is a quantitative mapping of web traffic at the start, but quickly becomes qualitative. The mini city founder can decide to spread additional myminicity links to boost its industry, transportation, security, environment, and business. On top of that, visitors can see which sector the city is failing in and visit the appropriate link. Thus boosting the rating for that sector. I find this incredibly interesting because the quantitative and qualitative aspects of this mapping process are constantly in a feedback loop to one another.
