Urban Exploring in the Sleepy City

To continue the idea of invisible infrastructure and urban exploration, I want to direct your attention to Sleepy City. This website catalogs an individual’s urban adventures through striking photography. Many of the places they visit are underground, but the slant is toward infrastructure and understanding how our cities work.

From heavy industry to sewers, via planes, trains and automobiles we have it all. Over developed adrenal gland? Try subways, bridges, power tunnels and government sites. Hunchbacks get in free!

Massive underground spaces? Secret tunnels? Forgotten lonely chairs left abandoned in derelict asylums? How about haunted barns, abandoned houses and drain wenches? Beaver lodges made of peeling paint harvested by goddamn basket strapped asylum beavers?

These often ignored nooks and crannies are our playground. Grab a light and have a wander, you’ll be surprised how little of your city you ever appreciated.
